Anchoring system works...

Today I was able to check out the anchoring system.   I was pleased that it met expectations.   The anchor self stowed and fitted snugly.   The chain was easy to flay out without jamming even thought the winch is quite fast.

What was interesting is how much anchor warp we were able to fit.  I decided to use the braided nylon because it doesn't kink.  I wanted to be able to have 120 meters of anchor rode plus the 25 meters of chain.  As it turned out 150 meters of the braided nylon fitted OK.

So, this will give me a total of 175 meters which is what I wanted.   The other rope storage compartment on the starboard side will house additional anchor rode which will also double for the parachute anchor system.

Electric motors being connected...

The mounting system has worked out well.   All the electrics for the motors are now complete.   Next week we will be fitting the lifting mechanism and the 'locking' system to keep it located whilst in use.   It is very easy to raise and lower.

Boarding ladder fitted...

The boarding ladder is now made and fitted.   Just have to finalise the catch mechanisim.   We have designed it so that the bottom two steps will be under the water so it will be easy to board when swimming.

When it is raised it forms part of the aft decking...and is flush.

It took a lot of design work by my architect Bryan Pugh to get it all working 100%...but it works perfectly and is very smooth.  If any reader has an interest in this just let me know and I will give you Bryans contact details as he is thinking about designing three versions and possibly manufactuing them, because they work so well.

Steering system almost complete...

The steering ram and tie bar is now in place.  We still have to finalise the emergency steering system.   I think I have figured out how we will do this.  Let you know later if it will work.

The boarding ladder will be fitted tomorrow or Monday...more photos soon.

Progress continues...

Just got back to New Zealand today.   Progress has been good whilst I was away.   The main emphasis is now on the electrical and mechanical work.

The timber decking is now installed and looking good.

Rudders fitted...

The rudders are now hung so the steering system can now start to be fitted.   We have used locating pins to avoid excessive movement of the rudders which in turn would cause the autopilot to work overtime.

Aft Seat Fitted...

They were quite limited as to what they could do today because of poor weather...but, the aft seat was fitted.   The upholstery is complete but we won't fit that until I get back to NZ at the end of next week.

The circular fitting you see on the deck if for the pedestal for the removable table.
