Masts are being stepped...

Today the masts were stepped.  All went smoothly.   Tuesday will be interesting as we will do a 'dry run' and fit the sails and the gaffs.

Are the masts from Gunther in Phuket and the sails from Tasker as previously mentioned? How about the weight of the masts, do you have any figures and also the build details?

Hi Dan,

Yes, the masts are from Gunther and the sails from Tasker. Not sure of the weight of the masts...but, I could find out if you like. Just let me know. They are certainly a bit heavier than carbon or aluminium but I think that they will be sturdier and less likely to break, and probably last longer. The rigging is galvanised wire which is tarred in the traditional way. From what I can gather there is less likelihood of an unexpected failure as compared to stainless.

Irrespective I am happy with it. Today we start fitting the sails so I will have some new photos to post shortly.
